Free Audio Plugins – An Audio Nerd’s Dream

Audio mixers, masters and electronic music producers all use plugins. It’s all a natural part of mixing a rock band or mastering a cello concerto. Without plugins, radios would have to use extremely dynamic recordings on air and have to edit the levels constantly to not blow listeners’ ears.

The issue is that plugins most of the time cost $100 to $200, which is a lot if you don’t have the budget. A lot of plugins are free, too, but they often have bugs that affect the CPU and can create virus-like simulations that are hard to remove. However, I have downloaded and tested some free plugins that aid recordings in many ways.

Richmond, VA hip hop artists Alfred, AfroCatBienJake BarkleySha Shakusky, and MNLOV came to Rochester, NY last weekend to celebrate the release of Sha’s record RIP Ma’s & Pa’s. They spoke about a friend named Big Kahuna OG, a fellow Richmond rapper and hip hop producer. This record is absolutely fire – the flows and beats go together so well that many of my friends thought it was a big name rapper. Spread the love!

Some random dude from France made a really cool beat from a movie soundtrack. Just go outside a major urban area, run, bike, skate or whatever. Go at night. Feel alive.

I’m shocked hardly anybody I talked to over Fall Break even knew who Perfect Pussy is. Loud, unafraid and crazy is Meredith Graves, lead singer, and she wants to be heard whether or not you like it. This song and album was released in 2014, but the punk scene is still going strong and what a better way to pay homage to the queen of loud punk.

A visit to Montreal in October 2016 deserves a mix. Montreal’s music scene is blooming, and has become more popular ever since Grimes moved in. With a trip to Ludovico Einaudi and Bob Moses concerts, here is mélange of things heard in Montreal while there!
